Jocelle and John are definitely not your 'average' couple (whatever that is!) and planned their wedding from start to finish in about a week. They had an intimate wedding at the gorgeous La Petite Dauphine in Franschhoek on a beautiful Monday morning.

Suzanne and Magnus in the Maldives - Part 1
Monday, 08 June 2009
It was my husband who drew my attention to the irony of my last post about the Maldives - "You've called the post 'Back From Paradise' but that shot was taken on the jetty where the rubbish is taken off the island - hardly paradise!" Suzanne is an architect and wanted something a bit different for her wedding photos and told me that she didn't want 'those cheesy beach pictures' but something a bit artistic. So it's true, we headed out to some of the more 'grubbier' parts of the island to take some photos.
Suzanne and Magnus had an intimate wedding at the gorgeous Four Seasons Hotel in Lindaa Giraavaru . The monsoon rains stayed away for their celebrations and it was a stunning day, definitely worth the various flights to get there. Thank you so much for flying Simon and I out for the occasion, for being so cool about trudging out to the rubbish jetty and to your family for being so warm and welcoming. I'm going to have to do this wedding as 2 blog posts so here is part 1 for now:

When Exposure Gallery at The Old Biscuit Mill
asked if I'd like to exhibit some work in a joint exhibition they're
hosting on Cuba, I thought it would be a great excuse to get some my
many images off my hard drive and into the real world! It seems like a
good time to do it since Monica
and I were in Cuba exactly a year ago. For all our photographer friends
reading this, she'll also be exhibiting some of her work from our trip
too... so get off your couch/away from your Lightroom screens and head
out to Exposure Gallery next Thursday 11 June at around 6pm. We can
have a few mojitos somewhere afterwards :-)

I'm heading off to the Maldives to shoot Suzanne and Magnus's wedding and since it's quite a way to go, will be staying for a few extra days! I won't have access to phone or email during this time and will be back in reach on 26 May. I really REALLY won't be checking email for once. Really.
Since a blog post isn't a blog post without an image, here are 2 shots of the gorgeous Jude-meister... I don't usually post personal images here but I couldn't resist these!

Bridget and Christian at Constantia Uitsig
Wednesday, 13 May 2009
When I first met Bridget a few months back I instantly liked her and felt like I had known her for ages - she has a warmth and energy about her that makes one feel so at ease. She met me on her own and told me about her gorgeous Scottish fiance, Christian and how many years ago she had seen him across a large room at a corporate meeting and just known that he was the man she would one day marry.
That day arrived, the rain held out and the sun came out beautifully for their intimate wedding at Constantia Uitsig . As their ceremony time couldn't be moved earlier and we were concerned about running out of light for portraits, Christian and Bridget decided to see each other before the ceremony and take some couple shots then - something I'd really recommend! Just a few images from their day:

Jon and Jess at Groot Constantia

It wasn't the most undaunting thing in the world to photograph Jess and Jon's wedding, as Jon takes some superhot photos himself being a photojournalist for Go! magazine.
The rain held out on their wedding day and there was just lovely muted light all day long. As usual, a stunning couple who are just so into each other. A guest at their wedding walked up to me and said 'You have the best job in the world!' and I guess I do, I work with very amazing people.
I've got a ton of stuff to do before I head out to the Maldives to shoot a wedding which I am SO excited about, but since this was a few weeks back wanted to post some images for these guys. Hope you are enjoying your backpacking adventure. And hope you had a wonderful birthday Jess!

Cath and Adrian at Strandkombuis
Friday, 01 May 2009
I've known Cath since some fairly wild varsity and London days so it was so fantastic to see her and Adrian commit their lives to each other and have a huge party at The Strandkombuis in Yzerfontein. It was the kind of wedding where everyone seemed to pitch in and lend a hand with whatever needed doing. (Cath's sister Sam made the fab dresses!) It's really great shooting people that you know and seeing some familiar faces from way back when. Although I have to admit I'm starting to feel old realising how long ago it was that I graduated.
Quarter-life crisis aside (modern medicine and all), here are a few from the day:

Tracy and Gary at The 12 Apostles
Tuesday, 28 April 2009
Tracy and Gary came down from Jozi with friends and family for an intimate weekday wedding at the lovely 12 Apostles Hotel . She's a doctor, he's a paramedic and they met while they were both working in Afghanistan. My own love story is not so original - my husband and I hooked up through 2 mutual friends while we were at varsity in Cape Town - so I love to hear how people cross paths and how destinies are changed through falling in love. A few random images from their day:

Louise and Kevin at Vrede en Lust
Friday, 24 April 2009
Louise and Kevin hail from Aberdeen in Scotland - they had never been to Cape Town before or even South Africa and decided to have their wedding in Franschhoek at the beautiful Vrede en Lust , which has to be one of my favourite venues to work at! A most divine couple, I wish I could somehow capture your beautiful accent on camera! I have about a 10 minute gap now while the getting-cuter-by-the-day Jude is in nap heaven... so here are some images. Hope you like them.

Ayanda and Shaun came up from Joburg for a simple, beautiful and intimate wedding at Grootbos Nature Reserve with a bunch of family and friends. They share such a laidback and chilled out vibe, it was stunning to photograph them! It's almost the start of the long weekend and I promised Ayanda I would put some pictures up so here are 'just a few'!

Kirsten and Darren at Suikerbossie
Wednesday, 01 April 2009
Kirsten and Darren are 2 of the coolest people I've had the pleasure of working with. When I met with them a few months back, they told me that they wanted something a bit out of the ordinary, always music to my ears. They certainly are not an 'ordinary' couple (if such a thing exists?)
They had a kind-of-Jewish wedding at Suikerbossie in Hout Bay. I've said it before , but I think that every wedding should have a horah as an entrance to the reception, it's such a party! Anyway, my keeping it down went out the window with this wedding and I have a whole heap of images to get through from some very cool weddings and other events along the way - when I get a chance I'm so excited to share some very beautiful images from Kirsten's boudoir shoot too. But for now here you go!
